Sony last night revealed all the details about the upcoming PS4, well except for the design of the machine itself! Being console junkies, all of us at armerdesign have been eagerly anticipating the next generation of consoles (yes i know the wii-u is!).
Kudos to Sony for showing actual game play footage of their main fps franchise, Killzone. After being ridiculed for its Killzone 2 presentation many e3′s ago, this real time demo blew us all away. The detail on the landscapes which continued as far as the eye could see was truly breath taking. Mixed in with the amazing looking characters and animation, this quick glimpse got us licking our lips and made us start counting down the days til its release.
Killzone was not the only game shown, some equally impressive games like Deep Down from Capcom and Drive Club from Motorstorm creators Evolution Studios, really showed what the power of this new machine will be capable of.
A great feature to the PS4 is the functionallity to record parts of your game and upload them for all the world to see. This is also adaptable, to enable real time help from your friends who can ‘jump’ into your game at any time and help you from anywhere in the world. It also appears that Sony have also swapped its dated and overused XMB menu system, for a new modern looking menu similar to the current Plasstation store as seen on the PS3 and Vita.
The brief 3 hour presentation has really heated up the game industry, which in my opinion has gone stale for the last couple of years. We cannot wait until E3 in June.
The ball is now in your court Microsoft, let us see what the next Xbox can do!
